Q & A

Get to Know Marcy & Jen

WHAT'S BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR CAREER THUS FAR?

Marcy: Creating a space like The Plus Bus where we are actively healing fatphobia and creating the best shopping experience for the plus size customer that has ever existed.

How would you describe your style?

Jen: Eccentric and free, Colorful and full of whimsy, WILDER is my name after all!

What outfit makes you feel the most powerful or the most YOU? How does a great outfit make you feel?

Jen: I love to mix high end with vintage or fast fashion and merge all the different perspectives of my life into comfy and exaggerated layers. Love to push the envelope—I love feeling all eyes on me and owning my fatness in fashion. I feel powerful, graceful and confident when I walk into a room with THE perfect look for that event—I love a theme!

How has access to fashion/evolution of inclusive fashion impacted your own personal style?

Marcy: My style is still ever-evolving, but I have always had taste and loved brands that were not accessible to me. Now that we have so many wonderful new brands emerging and we are seeing so much change (albeit slowly) it is thrilling to have everything from Eloquii to Mary Katranzou, Zac Posen to Zelie for She, 11 Honoré and beyond. I feel I have the armor I need for any room my life should bring me into and that makes for huge confidence when you step up and take a seat at that table.

What are you excited to add to your wardrobe this year?

Jen: Frills, clown-core pieces, white and black, origami pleating, I’m being drawn back to early 2000s nostalgia like Paris Hilton in 2008/9-mini mini skirts, Ed Hardy-esque tacky and over embellished after the “austerity” of lock down. I want to rebel and be a rock star party girl.

Is there a brand/style you'd love to wear that doesn't exist yet in plus?

Marcy: I'd die for something like Alice and Olivia, Rag & Bone, All Saints, Equipment... we have so much white space!!

What do you want to see from fashion in the next five years?

Jen: More artistic and futuristic design in plus sizes—really would love to see us move away from arcane “fashion rules”. Would love to see investment into marketing towards an aspirational fatness as a beauty ideal. Would love to see all size charts expand and include more bodies. Watching the plus size community move into the winners circle. We need fashion to catch up to us–we need red carpet and elegant Pret-a-Porter. More natural fibers, more sustainable business practices. Using AI to cut down on waste. More accessible and adaptable clothing.
