For keeping it extra casual, wearing a denim jacket with your sweatpants and joggers is always fine. While a denim jacket might not be appropriate for work, a plus-size denim blazer with a broad collar or one that’s double-breasted with buttons works great with all your skirts and blouses. A denim jacket might be too heavy for summer, but a denim shacket or chambray shirt could be lightweight and comfortable to throw on at the beach or over maxi dresses. In the spring and summer, classic jean jackets are what we recommend. Even better? Find colorful denim jackets, light wash denim jackets and play with cropped looks for a fun, breezy look through the hot months. During fall and winter, opt for longer lengths and oversized denim coats and jackets. For winter you’ll especially find flannel-lined jackets and denim jackets trimmed with faux-fur to turn up the style factor while keeping you warm. Another underrated style we love for spring and fall? Denim dusters. They cover your look like a trench coat and ward off the wind, but keep it casual for date nights and breezy weekends.

How to Style Denim Jackets

Styling women’s denim jackets is super easy if you pay attention to the length of the jacket and how it plays with your outfit. For example, oversized denim jackets work best with shorts and mini dresses because you’ll get that great contrast between the long length of the denim jacket and the short and/or skinny fit of your bottoms. Skinny jeans and leggings also pair well with oversized jean jacket styles. With cropped denim jackets or moto jackets, you’ll want to wear oversized tee shirts and skinny jeans or leggings to play with the short length of the jacket. Alternatively, high-waisted jeans or pants of any style will go well with a cropped jacket. Jackets that hit right at the hip can easily be styled with any bottom or dress of your choice.
